Dean & Amy, A Purple Affair at The Chewton Glen.

This was a very special wedding for me as it was the first wedding cake I had ever done, my hands were shaking as I set it up at the magnificent Chewton Glen Hotel. Here are some more pictures from my first real wedding. The cake was four tiers, in Ivory with large purple sugar roses and falling petals.

Beautiful flowers including Lisianthus, Freesias and Roses, provided by Jules Florist in Christchurch.

The dress was covered in a gorgeous lace detail, with a lovely long train and a very pretty empire line ribbon detail. La Spona from Daisy Bridal in Boscombe.
The men were in classic morning suits, with matching purple cravats all hired from Well Groomed in Parkstone, Poole.

Each table was named after a golf course, Dean is a very keen golfer, there were even personalised tees as favours on the table, fantastic idea!

The Chewton Glen, provided a mouthwatering array of afternoon tea treats, a different way to feed your guests in place of the more traditional wedding breakfast. This was followed in the evening by a delicious BBQ.

The cake was made up of one fruit tier to be saved, one sponge and one chocolate, with a dummy tier on the top to keep as a memento, with all the lovely purple roses on top.

A lovely idea to have a photograph as a message book.

A truly lovely wedding and a lovely couple.

  1. Hi There! I love your creation of this cake!! It's amazing! How did you get the purple so deep and dark? My cousin has asked me to make her wedding cake to replicate this one and I am having some trouble getting the purple so dark. Any tips you have would be extremely helpful!!
    Thank you!
